Philippians
Thanking Jesus
dwm
Philippians 1
1Thank You, for people like Paul and Timothy, Your servants who wrote to all the Christians in You, Christ Jesus, who were at Philippi, with the overseers and servants which includes me.
2Thank You for grace and peace from Your Father God and from You, Lord Jesus Christ.
3I thank You, my God, whenever I remember other Christians, 4always in every request of mine on behalf of them all making my requests with joy, 5for their partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now.
6Thank You that I am confident of this very thing, that You who began a good work in me will complete it until Your day, O Jesus Christ.
7Thank You that it is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all Christians, because I have You in my heart. Thank You that I am like Paul in that, both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, they all are partakers with me of grace.
8For Jesus, You are my witness, how I care about other Christians in Your tender mercies.
9Thank You that I pray this, that my love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment. 10Thank You that I may approve the things that are excellent. Thank You that I may be sincere and without offense until Your day, O Christ. 11Thank You that I am being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through You, to the glory and praise of Your Father.
12Now, I thank You that I desire (like Paul) that my siblings know, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News. 13Thank You that it has become evident to my whole praetorian guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds (like Paul’s) are in You, O Christ. 14Thank You that most of the brothers in You, Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak Your word, O Jesus, without fear.
15I appreciate the fact that some indeed preach You, O Christ, even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will. 16I also appreciate that the former insincerely preach You from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my suffering. 17But I really appreciate that the latter preach out of love, knowing that I (like Paul) am appointed for the defense of the Good News. 18Thank You that it does not matter. Thank You that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ, You are proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice. 19Thank You that I know that this will turn out to my salvation, through others supplication and the supply of Your Spirit, my Jesus Christ.
20Thank You that it will be according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also, Christ, You will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.
21Thank You that for me to live is You, my Christ, and to die is gain.
22Thank You that if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I do not know what I will choose. 23But I thank You that (like Paul) I am in a dilemma between the two, having the desire to depart and be with You, my Christ, which is far better. 24Yet, to remain in the flesh is more needful for other’s sake.
25Thank You that I have this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with the Christians, for their progress and joy in the faith. 26Thank You that their rejoicing may abound in You, Christ Jesus, and in me through my presence with them again.
27Thank You that my manner of life will be worthy of Your Good News, O Christ. Thank You that whether I come and see other believers or am absent, I will hear of their state. Thank You that we stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News.
28Thank You that in nothing will I be frightened by the adversaries. Although to some adversity is a proof of destruction, thank You that to me it is proof of salvation, and that from You, my God.
29Thank You that it has been granted to me on Your behalf,
O Christ, not only to believe in You, but also to suffer on
Your behalf. I am grateful that You are still helping me 30with the same conflict which others saw in me, and now hear is in me.
Philippians 2
1Therefore, thank You that there is exhortation in You, my
Christ. Thank You that there is consolation of love. Thank You that there is fellowship of Your Spirit. Thank You that there are tender mercies and compassion.
2Thank You for making my joy full, by helping me to be like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3Thank You that I do nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility. Thank You that I count others better than myself. Thank You that I do not just look to my own things, but also care about the things of others.
5Thank You that I have this in my mind, which was also in Your mind, Christ Jesus.
6I am thankful that even though You existed in the form of God, yet You did not consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but You emptied Yourself. Thank You for taking the form of a servant and being made in the likeness of mankind. 8And being found in human form, I am so grateful that You humbled Yourself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross.
9Therefore, I am thrilled that God also highly exalted You, and gave to You the name which is above every name. 10 I cannot adequately express my anticipation that at Your name, O Jesus, every knee shall bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth.
11 Thank You that every tongue shall confess that You, Jesus Christ, are Lord, to the glory of God Your Father.
12So then, as Your beloved, even as I have always obeyed, not only in other Christians presence, but now much more in their absence, thank You for helping me work out my own salvation with fear and trembling.
13Thank You that it is You, my Jesus, Who works in me both to will and to work, for Your good pleasure. 14Thank You that I can do all things without murmuring and disputes. 15Thank You that I may become blameless and harmless. Thank You that I am Your child without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom I am seen as light in the world.
16Thank You for helping me hold up the word of life; that I may have something of which to boast in Your day O Christ. Thank You that I am not running in vain nor laboring in vain.
17Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of my faith, I am thankful to You and rejoice with other believers 18in the same way, they also rejoice, and rejoice with me.
19Thank You, Lord Jesus, for sending someone like Timothy to my Christian friends, that like Paul, I also may be cheered up when I know how they are doing. 20Thank You that I have a few who are like-minded as Timothy was, who truly care about others. 21Even though many seek their own, not Your things, Jesus Christ, 22thank You that I know people like Timothy, who was like a son to Paul and helped him preach the Good News.
23Thank You for the hope that You will send someone, as soon as possible to see how it goes with me. 24Thank You that I trust in You, Lord, that someone like Paul himself also will come shortly. 25Thank You for counting it necessary to send to me someone like Epaphroditus, Paul’s brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and his apostle and servant of his need; 26someone who longs for me, and would be very troubled, if he heard that I was sick.
27For indeed like Epaphroditus I have known people who have been sick, nearly to death, but I thank my God that You had mercy on them; and not on them only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow.
28 Thank You for sending people, therefore, the more diligently, that, when I see them again, I may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful. 29Thank You for helping me to receive my visitors in You, O Lord, with all joy, and to hold such in honor. 30Thank You for those who for Your work, O Christ, have come near to death, risking their lives to supply that which was lacking in others service toward Paul.
Philippians 3
In conclusion, my Lord, thank You that I can delight myself in You. Thank You that to repeat the same things is not tiresome to You, but is a safeguard for my soul.
2Thank You for warning me to beware of the dogs, to beware of the evil workers, and to beware of the false circumcision. 3Thank You that I am the circumcision, who worship Your Father God in the Spirit, and rejoice in You, Christ Jesus.
Thank You that I have no confidence in the flesh; 4though people like Paul might have had confidence even in the flesh. If I ever think that I have confidence in the flesh, thank You for reminding me of Paul: 5circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6concerning zeal, persecuting the assembly; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. 7However, what things were gain to me, thank You that (like Paul) I count as loss for You, O Christ. 8Yes most certainly, I appreciate being able to count all things to be loss for the excellency of the knowledge of You, Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I want to suffer the loss of all things, and count them as nothing but refuse, that I (like Paul) may gain You 9and be found in You.
Thank You that I do not have a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in You, my Christ, the righteousness which is from You, my God, by faith. 10Thank You that I may know You, and the power of Your resurrection, and the fellowship of Your sufferings. Thank You that I am becoming conformed to Your death.
11Thank You that by Your means I will attain to the resurrection from the dead. 12Thank You that although I have not already obtained, or am already made perfect, I (like Paul) press on, taking hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by You, Christ Jesus.
13Jesus, I do not regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do for which I am very thankful. Thank You for allowing me to forget the things which are behind, and to stretch forward to the things which are before.
14Thank You that (like Paul) You help me to press on toward the goal for the prize of God’s high calling in You, Christ Jesus. 15Thank You for letting me, therefore, as one who wants to be perfect, think this way. If in anything I think otherwise, thank You that You will also reveal that to me.
16Nevertheless, to the extent that I have already attained, thank You for letting me walk by the same rule and be of the same mind.
17Jesus, thank You for helping me to be an imitator with others of Paul. Thank You for noting those who walk this way, even as I have others for an example.
18Thank You for telling me, as You have often through Paul even weeping, of the many who walk as the enemies of Your cross, O Christ, 19whose end is destruction, whose god is their bellies, whose glory is in their shame, and who think about earthly things.
20Thank You that my citizenship is in heaven, from where I also wait for You, my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. 21Thank You that You will change the body of my humiliation to be conformed to the body of Your glory, according to the working by which You are able even to subject all things to Yourself.
Philippians 4
1Therefore, I thank You for helping me along with my beloved and longed for brothers and sisters who are my joy and crown, to stand firm in You, Lord my beloved.
2Thank You for exhorting Christian women, like Euodia and Syntyche, to make up their differences in You, Lord. 3Yes, I also thank You for true yokefellows who help these women. Thank You for women like these who labored with Paul in the Good News, for others like Clement also, and for the rest of Paul’s fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4I rejoice in You, Lord, always! Again I will say, I rejoice!
5Thank You that my gentleness is known to all people. Thank You Lord that You are near. 6Thank You that I do not have to be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, I let my requests be made known to God.
7And thank You that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard my heart and my thoughts in You, Christ Jesus.
8Finally, Jesus, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, thank You that I think about these things.
9The things which I learned, received, heard, and saw in people like Paul: thank You that I do these things. Thank You that You, the God of peace, will be with me.
10But I rejoice in You, Lord, greatly, that now after so long others have shown such interest in my welfare. Thank You that they have not forgotten me and now have opportunity of expressing their concern.
11Thank You that by no means have I been in actual need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. 12Thank You that I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. Thank You that in everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.
13Thank You that I can do all things through You, O Christ, Who strengthens me.
14However, I appreciate those who do well in sharing in my affliction. 15Thank You for the Philippians, that in the beginning of the Good News, when Paul departed from Macedonia, no assembly shared with him in the matter of giving and receiving, but the Christians in Philippi alone did. 16Thank You that even in Thessalonica they sent once and again to his need. 17Thank You that like Paul, I do not seek for the gift, but I seek for the fruit that increases to the account of others.
18Thank You that I have everything I want, am rich, and have been paid in full. Thank You for gifts that I have received through people like Epaphroditus. Thank You for
generosity that is a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God.
19Thank You that my God will supply every need of mine according to His riches in glory in You, Christ Jesus. 20Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen.
21Thank You that I can greet every saint in You, Christ Jesus. Thank You that brothers like those with Paul can greet me. 22Thank You that all the saints in Rome greeted the Philippians, especially those who were of Caesar’s household.
23Thank You that Your grace, Lord Jesus Christ, will be with me always. Amen.
