Jude
Thanking Jesus

Jude 1
1Thank You for Jude, Your servant, O Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called including me, sanctified by God the Father, and kept for You, Jesus Christ. 2Thank You that mercy and peace and love is multiplied to me.
3Jesus, thank You that Jude was very eager to write to me about our common salvation. Thank You that he was constrained to write to me exhorting me to earnestly join the struggle in defense of the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
4I am thankful for the warning that there are certain people who have wormed their way into the Church, but who have for a long time been heading straight for the condemnation: ungodly people, turning the grace of our God into an opportunity for immorality. Thank You for warning me that these people deny You, our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
5Now, I am grateful for Jude’s desire to remind me, though I already know this, that You, Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6Thank You for reminding me that angels who did not keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, You have kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. 7Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, having, in the same way as these, given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, thank You that they are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire.
8Yet in the same way, I thank You for warning me that these also defile their bodies by their filthy fantasies, reject authority, and slander celestial beings.
9I am thankful for the restraint of Michael, the archangel, when contending with the devil and arguing about the body of Moses, dared not condemn him with insulting words, but simply said, “May the Lord rebuke you!”
10But I thank You again for warning me about people who are ready to mock things that they do not understand and that are beyond their immediate knowledge, while in the things that they know by instinct, like unreasoning beasts, they have become utterly depraved.
11I am grateful that You say, “Woe to them! For they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire, and perished in Korah’s rebellion.” 12Thank You for telling me that these are hidden rocky reefs in our love feasts when they feast with us, shepherds who without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn leaves without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; 13wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.
14I understand that about these also Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
16Thank You for revealing these complainers, who curse their fate while trying all the time to mold life according to their own desires, showing respect of persons to gain advantage.
17But I, Lord Jesus Christ, remember the words which have been spoken before by Your apostles. 18They said to me that “In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts.”
19Thank You again for revealing these who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having Your Spirit.
20But I thank You, Jesus, that You keep building me up in the most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. 21Thank You for keeping me in the love of God, looking for Your mercy, Lord Jesus Christ, to eternal life.
22Thank You for instructing me that on some to have compassion, making a distinction, 23and to some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the very clothing contaminated with sensuality.
24Now thanks be to You Who are able to keep me from falling, and to present me faultless before the presence of Your glory with exceeding joy, 25to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, through You, Jesus Christ our Lord, both now and forever.
Amen.
