1st Peter 1
1 Thank You for people like Peter, Your apostle, O Jesus Christ, who wrote to the chosen ones who were living as foreigners in the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.
2 Thank You that he wrote according to the foreknowledge of God, Your Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that I may also obey You, Jesus Christ, and be sprinkled with Your blood.
Thank You that grace and peace can be multiplied to me.
3 I am thankful, my Lord Jesus Christ, that Your Father is the blessed God Who according to His great mercy became my father also. Thank You for the living hope that You gave me through Your resurrection from the dead. 4 Thank You for an incorruptible and undefiled inheritance that does not fade away, that is reserved in Heaven for me.
5 I am grateful that by God’s power I am guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Thank You, Jesus, that therein I greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, I have been put to grief in various trials.
7 Thank You that the proof of my faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, will be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at Your revelation.
8 I am thankful for You Whom not having known I love. Even though now I do not see You, yet I believe and rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory—
9 Thank You also that I am receiving the result of my faith, the salvation of my soul.
10 Concerning this salvation, thank You that the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to me.
11 Thank You that they searched for Who or what kind of time Your Spirit, O Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when they predicted Your sufferings, and the glories that would follow them.
12 Thank You that to those prophets it was revealed, and not to themselves only but also to me. Thank You that they ministered these things, which now have been announced to me through those who preached the Good News to me by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.
13 Therefore Jesus, thank You for helping me prepare my mind for action. Thank You that I will be sober and set my hope fully on the grace that will be brought to me at Your revelation, Jesus Christ.
14 Thank You that I am a child of obedience and that I do not conform myself according to my former lusts as in my ignorance.
15 Thank You that just as You Who called me are holy, I myself also am holy in all of my behavior; 16because it is written, “You shall be holy; for I am holy.”
17 Thank You that I call on You as my older Brother, who without respect of persons judges according to each person’s work, pass the time of my living as a foreigner here in reverent fear.
18 Thank You that I know that I was redeemed, not with corruptible things, as with silver or gold, from my useless way of life handed down from my fathers, 19but with precious blood, as of a faultless and pure lamb, Your blood, O Christ.
20 I am so thankful that You were foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but were revealed at the end of times for my sake.
21 I am also thankful that through You I am a believer in Your Father, Who raised You from the dead, and gave You glory; so that my faith and hope might be in Your Father God.
22 Thank You for purifying my soul in my obedience to the truth through Your Spirit. Thank You for giving me sincere brotherly affection, to love others from my heart fervently.
23 Thank You that I have been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through Your word, which lives and remains forever.
24 For as Your word says, “All flesh is like grass, and all of man’s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls; 25 but Your word, O Lord, endures forever.” Thank You for this word of Good News, which was preached to me.
1st Peter 2
1 Thank You that I want to put away, therefore, all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking.
2 Thank You as a newborn baby, I long for the pure milk of Your Word, that I may grow thereby.
3 Thank You that I have tasted that You, Lord, are gracious. 4I am so grateful that I come to You, Jesus, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious.
5 Thank You that I also am a living stone and am being built up into a spiritual house. Thank You that I am part of Your holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through You, my Jesus Christ.
6 Thank You that it is contained in Your Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen, and precious: He who believes in Him will not be disappointed.”
7 Thank You that for me who believes, therefore, this is an honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone, which the builders rejected, has become the chief cornerstone,” 8 and, “a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.”
Thank You that I will not stumble at Your word, being disobedient, to which also I was appointed.
9 Thank You that I am part of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for Your own possession. Thank You that I will proclaim Your excellence, O Jesus. Thank You for calling me out of darkness into Your marvelous light.
10 Although in time past I was part of no people, thank You that now I am part of Your people. Although I had not obtained mercy, thank You that now I have obtained mercy.
11 Jesus, as a foreigner and pilgrim, thank You for helping me to abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against my soul.
12 Thank You that I have good behavior among the nations, so in that of which they speak against me as an evildoer, they will by my good works, which they see, glorify You, O Christ, in the day of visitation.
13 Therefore, I thank You that I subject myself to every ordinance of man for Your sake: whether to the king, as
supreme; 14 or to governors, as sent by him for vengeance on evildoers and for praise to those who do well.
15 Thank You that it is Your will, that by well doing I should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
16 Thank You that I am free and that I do not use my freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as Your bondservant.
17 Thank You that I honor all people. Thank You that I love the brotherhood, fear You, and honor the king.
18 Thank You for helping me, as a servant and employee, to be in subjection to my masters and employers with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
19 I appreciate knowing that it is commendable if I endure pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward You, Jesus. 20I also appreciate knowing that I do not deserve glory if, when I sin, I patiently endure punishment.
But I really appreciate knowing that if, when I do well, I patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with You.
21 Thank You for calling me to this suffering, because, Christ, You also suffered for me, leaving me an example, that I should follow Your steps.
22 Thank You that You did not sin, “neither was deceit found in Your mouth.” 23 Thank You that when You were cursed, You did not curse back. Thank You that when You suffered, You did not threaten, but committed Yourself to Your father God Who judges righteously.
24 Thank You, Jesus, that in Your own self You bore my sins in Your body on the tree, that I, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. Thank You that by Your stripes I am healed.
25 For I was going astray like a sheep; thank You that now I have returned to You the Shepherd and Overseer of my soul.
1st Peter 3
1 In the same way, I thank You for helping wives to be in subjection to their own husbands; so that, husbands who do not obey Your Word may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word; 2 seeing the believing wives pure behavior in fear.
3 Thank You that the Christian wives’ beauty is not just the outward adorning of braiding the hair, and of wearing jewels of gold, or of putting on fine clothing. 4 Thank You that their beauty is in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is in Your sight very precious.
5 Thank You that this is how the holy women before, who hoped in You also adorned themselves, being in subjection to their own husbands: 6 as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children we now are, as we do well. Thank You that we are not made to be afraid.
7 Jesus, thank You for helping husbands, in the same way, live with their own wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life. Thank You that husbands prayers are not being hindered because they do this.
8 Finally, thank You for helping us all be like-minded, compassionate, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, courteous, 9 not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult; but instead blessing. Thank You that I know that to this we were called, that we may inherit a blessing.
10 Thank You for Your promise that, “He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. 11Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
12 For Your eyes, O Lord, are on the righteous, and Your ears open to our prayer; but Your face is against those who do evil.”
13 Thank You, now, that no one will harm me, if I become an imitator of that which is good. 14 But even if I should suffer for righteousness’ sake, thank You because I am blessed.
Thank You that I do not fear what others fear, neither am I troubled.
15 But I thank You that I sanctify You, Lord, in my heart. Thank You that I am always ready to give an answer to everyone who asks me a reason concerning the hope that is in me. Thank You that I can do this with humility and fear.
16 Thank You for my good conscience; that, while I am spoken against as an evildoer, they may be disappointed who curse my good way of life in You, my Christ.
17 Thank You that it is better, if it is Your will, that I suffer for doing well than for doing evil.
18 Thank You, my Christ, that You also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that You might bring me to Your Father God.
Jesus, I am so thankful that even though You were put to death in the flesh, You were made alive in the spirit; 19 in that You also went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20 who before were disobedient, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ship was being built. Thank You that in the ark, few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
21 Thank You for this symbol of baptism, which now saves me—not the putting away of the filth of my flesh, but my answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of You, His Son Jesus Christ. 22 I appreciate that You are seated at God’s right hand. I am glad that You have gone into heaven, angels and authorities and powers being made subject to You.
1st Peter 4
1 Forasmuch then, as You, my Christ, suffered for me in the flesh, thank You for helping me arm myself also with Your same mind. Thank You that anyone who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.
2 Thank You that I do not want to live any longer the rest of my time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of Your Father, my God.
3 Thank You that I realize that I have spent enough of my past time doing the desire of the Gentiles, and walking in lewdness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousing, and abominable idolatries.
4 Although others think it is strange that I do not run with them into the same excess of riot, blaspheming: 5 I am thankful that with joy I will give account to You Who are ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 Thank You that to this end the Good News was preached even to the dead, that though they were judged indeed in the flesh like men , they might live as to You in the spirit.
7 Thank You for telling me that the end of all things is near. Thank You for helping me to be of sound mind, self controlled, and sober in prayer. 8 And above all things thank You for helping me to be earnest in my love among others. Thank You that love covers a multitude of sins.
9 Thank You that I am hospitable to others without grumbling. 10 As I have received a gift, thank You, Jesus, that I employ it in serving others, as a good manager of Your grace in its various forms.
11 Thank You for helping me speak as it were Your very words. Thank You for letting me serve with the strength which You supply.
I am so happy that in all things You may be glorified, Jesus Christ, to Whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
12 Jesus, thank You that I will not be astonished at the fiery trial that has come upon me, to test me, as though a strange thing happened to me. 13 Because, Christ, I am a partaker of Your sufferings, thank You for helping me rejoice now. Thank You that at the revelation of Your glory I will also rejoice then with exceeding joy.
14 If I am insulted for Your name, O Christ, I thank You that I am blessed; because Your Spirit of glory rests on me. On their part You are blasphemed, but I am so thankful that on my part You are glorified.
15 Thank You that I will not suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or a meddler in other people’s matters. 16 But if I suffer for being a Christian, thank You for not letting me be ashamed. Thank You for letting me glorify You, my God, in this matter.
17 I appreciate knowing that the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. Thank You for telling me that if it begins first with us, it will be a disaster for those who do not obey Your Good News 18 and that “If it is hard for us righteous to be saved, what will happen to the ungodly and the sinner?”
19 Thank You that I, who also suffer according to Your will in doing good, can entrust my soul to You, as to a faithful Creator.
1st Peter 5
1 Thank You that Peter exhorts the elders among us, as a fellow elder, and a witness of Your sufferings, O Christ,
and as one who will also share in the glory that will be revealed.
2 Thank You that Peter commands elders to shepherd Your flock, Jesus, which is among them, exercising the oversight, not under compulsion, but voluntarily, not for dishonest gain, but willingly.
3 Thank You that Peter also commanded shepherds to not lord it over those entrusted to them, but to make themselves examples to the flock. 4 Thank You that when You, the chief Shepherd, are revealed, I will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
5 Thank You for helping younger ones to be subject to the elder. Yes, thank You for helping us clothe ourselves with humility and to subject ourselves to one another. I am thankful for the truth that “You resist the proud, but give grace to the humble.”
6 Jesus, I am privileged to humble myself, therefore, under Your mighty hand, that You may exalt me in due time. 7 Thank You that I can cast all my worries on You, because You care for me.
8 Thank You for helping me to be sober and self-controlled. Thank You for helping me to be watchful, because my
adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour me.
9 Thank You that I can withstand him. Thank You that I am steadfast in my faith, knowing that my Christian siblings who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
10 I am thankful to Your Father, the God of all grace, Who called me to His eternal glory by You, Christ Jesus, after I have suffered a little while, will perfect, will establish, will strengthen, and will settle me.
11 To You be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
12 Thank You for Silvanus, a faithful brother, as Peter consider him.
Thank You for this letter that Peter has written to us briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is Your true grace in which we stand.
13 Thank You for she who was in Babylon, chosen together with us, who sent her greetings; as well as Mark, Peter’s son.
14 Thank You that we can greet one another properly in love. Thank You that peace is with all of us who are in You, Christ Jesus. Amen.
